Paul Kent Dougherty, Principal of Strata Projects, has been involved in the construction and design industry for over 15 years. He has worked in construction management and custom home building throughout the mid-Atlantic region, and also served as a contributing editor for Builder Magazine. He holds a Masters Degree in Urban and Environmental Planning and a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture, both from the University of Virginia.

Strata Projects incorporates many eco-friendly aspects into their projects as standard, including blown cellulose insulation, 2x6 or better exterior framing, on-demand (tankless) hot water systems, non-ACQ (borate) treated lumber, 14 SEER variable-speed heat pumps, and pervious paving. Additionally, our development plans incorporate passive solar orientation, rain gardens, zero-gain site discharge, native plant palettes, and other Low Impact Development provisions.
Nonetheless, there is much more we could do. However, the significantly added cost and often unproven performances of many green technologies leads us to take an incremental approach to including them into our projects. What is important is that we are sincerely committed to exploring more energy and environmentally efficient means of building and developing, and will continue to expand the use of these technologies as budget and common sense allow.
More than anything, Strata Projects believes that the first step in building green is building well.
